It’s been a good year for shoegaze.  Not only have Slowdive reunited, but we’ve also seen excellent releases from bands such as Cheatahs.

Continuing on this high, Birmingham artist Mutes is a promising new act in the realm of shoegaze. Released on independent label One Note Forever, his debut EP is a breezy union of ambience and hazy pop reminiscent of Cryptograms era Deerhunter. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I would highly recommend a listen.
